Care through partnership

Magalli Huertas
I’m a native of Puerto Rico where I lived until 1980. I met my husband, Dr Gerry Lluberas, while we were both in college. We have two adopted children, Orlando now 41 and Cristina
about to turn 39. Dr. Gerry started medical missions to Haiti in 1998 as part of our parish twining program with Belle Anse. Unfortunately, Gerry got cancer and passed away in 2003 at
the age of 47. Since 1976 when I graduated college I have been involved in health care, first as a medical technologist and later as a registered nurse from which I retired in 2016.
Gerry always had a deep love for the people of Haiti and an intense desire to help them. This is my main motivation in being part of the board for SEHMF: that we may continue the work he started in Haiti and provide for their healthcare needs. I remarried in 2012 to John Piaschyk and currently live in Marietta, GA.
